Your Accommodation Options in Hermanus

Hermus (originally called Hermanuspietersfontein) lies in the heart of the Cape Whale Route, about 120km from Cape Town.  This small town on the southern coast of the Western Cape is famous for being the best land-based whale watching destination in the world.  The Southern right whales visit Walker Bay from June through to December and can be viewed from aboard a boat, an airplane or the shore.

The Whale Crier will keep visitors on land informed throughout the day about the whereabouts of the whales.  The kelp horn he blows has become the soundtrack to this seaside resort during the whale season.  You will find a number of craft markets that sell a range of interesting things, a marimba band that every now and then will play to adds a vibrant atmosphere to the town and if you want to have a glimpse of the times past, you can visit the old harbour with all the restored fishing boats, the old sea wall and reconstructed stone fishing huts.
